Functional Blood Work Analysis

Functional blood work analysis is different from pathological blood work analysis. The pathological range is used to diagnose disease. The functional range is used to access proper function, nutrient and mineral imbalances and to assess the risk for disease before disease develops. The ranges for proper function are narrow on both ends. They are healthy levels for optimum functioning.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese modality to affect the flow of qi. Glass or plastic cups are suctioned to the skin and either slide along acupuncture channels, or can be placed over acupuncture points. Cupping is a great modality to move stuck qi (i.e. pain or a “knot”), but can also help with digestion, increasing blood circulation, and even help open up the lungs when having respiratory congestion.

Auriculotherapy

Auriculotherapy is the stimulation of the auricle of the external ear for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other parts of the body.  It is also known as ear acupuncture or auricular acupuncture when the stimulation is achieved by the insertion of acupuncture needles, whereas the term auriculotherapy often refers to electrical stimulation of the surface of ear reflex points. Specific points on the ear can also be stimulated by manual pressure, lasers, magnets, and ear pellets. This therapy can be used for a multitude of issues including, but not limited to, help with smoking cessation, weight loss and chronic pain.

Moxibustion

Moxa is a dried Chinese herb that is rolled into cigar like cylinders. These moxa rolls are lighted and held over acupuncture points. Moxa is generally used on deficient patients, and is a great way to warm the body, and stimulate qi and blood flow. Many studies have been conducted which show that moxa may positively help boost the immune system, aid in increasing qi and blood flow to the uterus, and assist with turning breeched babies.
